Ready for a float on the Muskegon River?
Thanks for visiting!
Hello, I am Guy DeBor of Guy's Ultimate Kayak Service. I run a livery service, offering kayak rental and inflatable river cat rental, for floats down the lower Muskegon River in Muskegon, Michigan. I have multiple floats available. Each float takes approx. 1 & 1/2 hrs. depending on river conditions and paddle speed, but I give you 2 hours to explore the river, stop for lunch or swim. You can combine two floats for a 3-4 hour float. A life jacket and paddle are included with rental. Call 231-740-0227 and I will meet you at the river (exit point), transport your group upstream, get you on the river and meet you at the end of your float to pickup my boats. My hours are Sunday thru Saturday 7am to 8pm. Prices start at $20 for a single kayak rental.
The upper float meanders across the Muskegon river plain with a few downed trees to navigate around. A shallow, quiet section with minimal wind and more shade than the lower float. It has a very sandy bottom with some areas only a foot or two deep. There are several places to stop and swim or have lunch. Skill level 2-3 out of 10. The lower float is wider and deeper than the upper float. There are few obstacles and it mostly has cattails along the banks. Lots of sun, easy paddling and very relaxing. It is wide enough to have fishing boats and jet skis around. Skill level 1-2 out of 10. The lower float ends between the M120 causeway bridges at the Veterans Memorial Park, where the Muskegon river empties into Muskegon Lake.
I also offer kayak transport of your kayak. If you have a kayak or two and have friends who don't, I will transport your kayak(s) upstream for $5 per yak with a kayak rental. Kayak transport without a kayak rental is $15 per kayak. Call 231-740-0227 for a kayak rental or transport today!
Bald eagles, falcons, cranes, ducks, deer, turkeys and turtles are some of the wildlife you may observe on your float. Both sections of the river have very few houses on them as they flow through the Muskegon, Michigan state game area. Bring your camera and enjoy a peaceful, relaxing float today.
At midnight during each full moon from May thru September, I will be guiding a "Full Moon Float" down the river. It will start at the Creston road launch, and end at the Veterans Memorial park. Only $20 bucks per person includes a kayak, paddle, life jacket and a glow stick. The dates for 2017 are: May 10th, June 9th,July 8th,August 5th, Sept. 8th, and Oct. 6th. Call Guy to reserve a kayak today,231-740-0227. All the full moon floats depend on mostly clear skies. The floats take 1-2 hours.
