Hello fellow floaters, due to the extension of the stay at home order to May 28th, I will not be opening untill Friday May 29th. I am getting cleaning supplies and masks, so I can clean my van between shuttles and wash the life jackets and paddles in disinfectant between uses. I will be requiring my customers to wear a mask while in my van and limiting the number of groups to 10 for each shuttle. I can put a larger group of up to 20 in the river, but any over 10 will have to follow in their o...Read Full Post »

Hello fellow floaters, I will now be opening on May 16th. The Govener has extended the stay at home order until the 15th. We received 4 inches of rain in the last 24 hours, so the river will be high for a while. If you are going out with your own equipment, please be careful! Thanks and happy floating.

Hello fellow floaters, I am planning on opening on May 1st, unless the Execeutive Order is extended. I have a Full Moon Float scheduled for May 8th. The weather will also be a factor, and I will update here often in the coming days. There is a blockage of trees on the river on the middle section, between Mill Iron and Creston rd. I hope to clear it soon, but may need a larger chainsaw. Thank you for your interest in kayaking, and hopefully this virus will calm down for the summer. Stay safe e...Read Full Post »

Hello fellow floaters, the groundhog saw his shadow, so an early spring may be instore. Let's hope so, because then we can get on the river sooner. Lake Michigan is going to be at or near record highs all summer, so the lower sections of the river will also be high, but still floatable. I plan to open May 1st if conditions allow. The first full moon float is May 8th, and tickets will go up to $30 per person on May 1st. Purchase yours today! I will be posting the date...Read Full Post »

Hi fellow floaters, the July fourth week was great for paddlers. The weather was hot and the water levels have gone down in some areas. The Holton-Duck Lake road boat launch is back to normal levels. Mill Iron rd launch is about 1 ft higher than normal. The Creston rd. site is still about 2 feet higher and you must cary your kayak around the road closed barricade, and about 25yards to the deep water. The parking lot at the Veterans park is partially flooded as the water is still 3 feet ...Read Full Post »

Hello fellow floaters. The river is still a foot or 2 higher than normal, but it is safe to float. I am open everyday, so plan a float and let me get you on the water. Customers have been seeing an eagle and other predator birds, along with cranes, turtles, geese and muskrats. The middle section is deeper than usual, so there are not very many spots to stop and swim. If we do not get any rain for a week, it may go down and expose some sand bars. The river is moving about 5-6 mph until it reac...Read Full Post »
