Hi fellow floaters, the July fourth week was great for paddlers. The weather was hot and the water levels have gone down in some areas. The Holton-Duck Lake road boat launch is back to normal levels. Mill Iron rd launch is about 1 ft higher than normal. The Creston rd. site is still about 2 feet higher and you must cary your kayak around the road closed barricade, and about 25yards to the deep water. The parking lot at the Veterans park is partially flooded as the water is still 3 feet higher than normal. With Lake Michigan levels at record highs, it will be awhile before that area sees improvement. The lot is useable but be prepared to walk in some water in the parking lot to get to your car from the kayaks. Only ankle deep and warm. I have my adopt-a-highway this Saturday the 13th and will accept any volunteers that want to help clean up a section of M120, near my business. Just call or text 231-740-0227 to sign up and receive a free lunch after the cleanup, or a free kayak rental. Thanks and happy floating!
